Airplane: Direct to Drake Bay with Sansa Airline, www.flysansa.com. From the airport in Drake Bay, you can take a taxi (20 minutes) to the city. Sansa flies from the regional terminal close to the international flights at the Juan Santamaria Airport in San Jose.
In car/boat: drive to the town of Sierpe (it is best to arrive at least 30 minutes before), please park in one of the areas of paid parking fenced and take a boat cooperative (11:30. m., 3:30 p. m.) up to Drake. Bay. There is a fee of up to $25 per person for the boat cooperative. You can arrange private boat, but are much more expensive.
Driving to Drake Bay: Take the Costanerra (highway 27) until the inter-American South (hwy 34) south and turn in Chacarita driving to Puerto Jimenez. Follow the path to the town of Rincon, where you will see a sign indicating the turnoff to Drake Bay. From here follow the main road through the Ranch Burned and then Progress up to Drake Bay.
*****This option should be done with a car 4×4. This road has improved a lot and there are no crossings of rivers, have been installed jumpers on all the main steps. It is recommended that a 4×4 as it is still a dirt road with a lot of holes, rocky areas and can be slippery during heavy rains.
****** Unless you have previously agreed to plan to reach hotel LATER than 5:00 p. m. The road to the hotel is much more difficult to follow in the dark and do not have additional staff available to help with bags after this time.
Public Bus/Boat: 1) Take the Bus Tracopa www.tracopacr.com to Palmar Norte, then a taxi to Sierpe, then by boat to Drake Bay. 2) Take the bus Tracopa to Sierpe and then by boat to Drake Bay.

The temperatures in the coast range between 73 and 94 degrees Fahrenheit. Night-time temperatures are usually around 75 degrees. Our driest months are between December and may. You will want to bring a waterproof jacket or a poncho for our green season (June-October).
